How did you meet:
We met at The College of New Jersey. Joe was on the football team and Kyra was on the soccer team. We had tons of mutual friends and were always at the same places, but never really got to know each other until our senior year. After graduation, we bumped into each other again and the rest is history! We have, however, been Facebook friends since spring semester of freshman year!
The proposal:
On Saturday, August 4th, 2018, we were with a bunch of our friends and left early because Joe’s sister, Juliette, asked us to drop her off at her friend’s house in Manasquan. We also had plans to go to dinner with my parents. When we made it to Manasquan, Joe suggested going for a walk on the beach because it wasn’t time for dinner yet. We walked towards the inlet, and Joe led me to the rocks where he shared the sweetest words and proposed. Everyone started cheering and our families came walking out. They had been hiding the whole time and were in on the plan all along! Juliette took some beautiful pictures and then everyone went to celebrate at Mr. Shrimp. Joe recreated our first date for the proposal: a day at the beach followed by a meal at Mr. Shrimp. It was very thoughtful and sweet. Joe wanted the proposal to be at the beach, where many of our best and favorite memories have been made. Together, we have traveled to some beautiful beaches around the world.
What’s your favorite thing about each other?
Kyra: I love so many things about Joe. It’s difficult for me to pick my absolute favorite. I love how thoughtful and intelligent Joe is. He is very supportive and is always there for the people he loves. Joe has the best values and morals. His energy is contagious. Bonus: He has the best sense of humor and always has me laughing.
Joe: Kyra has a heart of absolute gold. She is always putting the needs of others before her own. From her family, to her friends, to her students. She gives the most thoughtful gifts, shares the kindest words and radiates love to everyone she meets. That is my favorite quality about Kyra Anne.
What are you most looking forward to when it comes to your destination wedding next year?
We are most looking forward to being able to have the wedding! Lol. But in all seriousness, we cannot wait to celebrate and spend quality time with our family and friends. We both value those relationships so much and love that a destination wedding gives us the opportunity to spend multiple days together with them. We also love to be adventurous and to travel, so going to Aruba feels like the perfect way to bring our loved ones on an adventure with us!
