How did you meet?
We met first semester of freshman year at college at the lovely Delta Tau Delta fraternity at Stevens. We were close friends all throughout college, but didn’t start dating until after graduation.
The Proposal!
Brian proposed while hiking with our dog Murphy on a beautiful fall day at Jockey Hollow in Morristown. Brian had asked that I get water for Murphy out of his backpack, and when I looked up, Murphy was shredding a note card that said “mom, say yes!” and Brian was down on one knee with the ring. I stared at him in shock for a good 10 seconds, and he stared back silently…finally I said “well are you going to say something?!” And he finally asked me to marry him, 9 years later.
Why did you pick your venue?
Choosing Clarks Landing was one of the easiest decisions we had throughout wedding planning. We saw a handful of venues before Clarks, and they were all beautiful but there was always something we wished we could change about them. From the moment we met Kristin and stepped foot into Clarks, we knew this was our venue! Judy, Kristin, and the whole staff at Clarks are the most accommodating and patient group of people we’ve ever worked with and we couldn’t have asked for a more supportive team when it came to COVID postponements. We’ve known of a few people who have been to weddings here in the past, and they have nothing but the absolute best things to say about Clarks—from the enormous cocktail hour, to the views, and the gorgeous property, we booked Clarks the first day we visited.
Tell us about all the details of the wedding!
The details of our wedding came together perfectly, mostly thanks to our amazing florist Kate who worked with my mom and me to help envision the perfect florals for our day (peonies, of course), along with as many candles and lanterns as she could fit. My favorite aspect was how the details of the staircase came together with the most gorgeous peonies and tulips.
Lisa from Art, paper, scissor was also incredible to work with. She brought together our vision with florals which she incorporated into our invitations, change-the-dates, second invitations, programs, place cards, and menus. She worked with me to make sure everything was perfect, and even helped to make a couple additional place cards the day before the wedding!
My bridesmaid Nicole made all of the signs for our wedding. She did all of the calligraphy by hand and painted all of our beautiful acrylic table numbers and signs which made it extra special.
Murphy is our puppy who we love (just a little), so we incorporated him into our cocktail napkins and also had him on our wedding cake.
Favorite moment of the day?
My favorite moment of the day was looking around the reception area with Brian, finally seeing all of “our people” all together on a dance floor after more than 2.5 years of waiting. Having to postpone our big celebration from June 2020 to May 2021 made the day extra special.
Where are you going on your honeymoon?
We went to Hawaii for our honeymoon! We split the 2.5 weeks between Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island. Kauai is our new favorite place in the world 🙂
