Bridget and Mark’s gorgeous coastal-inspired wedding day at Crystal Point Yacht Club was simply stunning! I loved working with them to capture all of the beautiful details they planned to bring their vision to life. Bridget and Mark’s wedding day was filled with a gorgeous dusty blue and white palette. I absolutely loved the greenery to accent their décor. From the trolley ride to Bridget’s chic wedding gown from London to Mark’s incredible second white jacket, the day shared their love story well. It definitely checked all of the boxes for an ocean side wedding. Bridget and Mark were so kind to share about their love story with me. Enjoy reading about this sweet couple and scrolling through their Point Pleasant wedding day!!
How did you meet?
Strangely enough, despite living just 25 minutes from one another their entire lives, Bridget and Mark did not officially meet until 2015. Upon graduation, both Bridget and Mark attended Villanova University in Pennsylvania. Bridget graduated in 2013 and Mark in 2014.
The couple did not meet until after graduation while working at JPMorgan Chase (JPMC) in New York City. They met at JPMC’s annual ‘Corporate Challenge,’ which is a 5k run in Central Park. After running the race, the two were introduced by mutual friends in the JPMC post-race tent, where they had many drinks and ended up being the last group to get kicked out of the park. At the time, both Bridget and Mark were dating other people and did not reconnect until a few years later.
A Long-Distance Love Story
Fast forward to 2017, and Mark’s team at JPMC was moved onto the same floor where Bridget sat (both were now single!). They immediately started chatting and went on a few dates before Bridget broke the news to Mark that she got a job offer internally and was moving to London. Despite the distance, they decided to continue dating. Bridget moved to London in 2018 to work in Internal Communications, while Mark remained in NYC with the Private Bank.
During that first year of long distance, the couple racked up too many air miles. Each time Mark visited Bridget in London, they’d travel to a new country. They visited places like Scotland, France, Croatia, Germany and Malta. After a year and a half of long distance, Mark finally joined Bridget in London to work in International Private Bank. The couple continues to reside in London but is home in NJ (too) often!
Tell us about the proposal!
It was August 2020, so Covid was still very present! Mark and Bridget flew home to visit their families and Mark surprised Bridget by proposing to her on the boardwalk in Avon. The original plan to propose on the beach needed to be changed last minute when a 30 minute monsoon rolled through Spring Lake during the planned proposal time. Even with the sudden changes the couple had an amazing proposal with great photos (by Susan!) followed by a dinner in Asbury Park with their parents.
What was it like working with Susan Elizabeth Weddings?
Ever since we met Susan on the night of our engagement, we knew we wanted her to photograph our wedding! We literally told her that evening. She’s friendly, fun, professional, and helped make our day even more special and memorable.
How did you pick your venue?
Growing up at the Jersey Shore, both Bridget and Mark always knew they wanted to get married near the ocean. Bridget’s grandparents and parents all got married at St. Catharine Church in Spring Lake, NJ, so it was an easy choice to hold the ceremony there. The couple saw a few venues in the shore area and immediately fell in love with Crystal Point Yacht Club! A short drive from Spring Lake to Point Pleasant, the venue was perfect for their 215 person wedding.
What was your favorite moment of the day?
Way too many to choose from but one of our favorite moments was taking sunset photos out on the dock outside our venue. It was the first time it was just the two of us (plus Susan, Jane and our videographer Eli!) all day — it was a fun, laid back and beautiful first moment as husband and wife where we got to finally let loose.
Where are you going for your honeymoon?
After getting married on Saturday, Bridget and Mark spent Sunday and Monday with their families and friends before flying back to London. They switched over their suitcases at home in London quickly and then went immediately back to Heathrow Airport. From there, they flew to the Maldives! They spent 10 days at an all inclusive resort in the middle of the Indian Ocean!
