Intimate Wedding at The Townsend Property | Chelsey and Matt

Congratulations, Chelsey and Matt! I absolutely loved photographing their intimate wedding at The Townsend Property. Chelsey and Matt are a super fun couple! She’s an art STEAM teacher in New Jersey well known for her incredible Instagram account of 85K followers. There, she shares classroom ideas, DIYs, lettering, and Target finds for teachers. She was even featured on Target’s official instagram! Matt is actually a wedding photographer, too. So we had a great time talking throughout the day. Their intimate wedding day took place at a gorgeous Airbnb right on the water, with just 25 of their closest friends and family. The day of their wedding, we wound up with some very windy weather and local tornados at the end of the day. But, Chelsey and Matt never complained and still had the best day ever with all their loved ones.

Fun Wedding Inspiration

Chelsey had the most fun details, including the cutest heart shaped glasses that she made with pearls and beads spelling out Mrs Bokey. She also designed her invitations herself with her own hand lettering and photo lined envelopes. Chelsey and Matt both got ready in the house, but on separate levels. She and her maid of honor (her sister Kaitlyn) had a blast getting ready. We took a bunch of fun pictures of the both of them jumping on the bed and doing what sisters so – it was the perfect way to kick off the morning. After her sweet mama helped her get into her gown, Chelsey went to meet Matt for their first look. Matt’s reaction was so cute, he even took some “air photos” of her and kept saying how beautiful she looked! He was so excited to see her and you could just feel the love pouring off them throughout the day.

Waterfront Wedding Portraits

We got the cutest shots of Chelsey wearing her Mrs Bokey jean jacket, that she personally hand lettered and decorated with pearls. After some portraits outside the gorgeous airbnb that looked straight out of Fixer Upper, they headed in to get their dog, Charlie, who was in a full tux! He’s a super well trained therapy dog and had an important part in their ceremony, the ring bearer of course! He was just the best boy ever and posed so well for all the pictures!

Most wedding photographers hate being in front of the camera, but Matt was a total ham soaking up all the attention… he was so funny and kept us laughing throughout the day. He also fully trusted our every move and photography decision, all while running around all day to make sure everything was absolutely perfect for his bride. He’s a keeper for sure! As for as the bridal party, I just loved that they only had a Maid of Honor and a Best Man! Even with just the 4 of them we had a blast and got some pretty epic photos of them spraying champagne to celebrate!

Intimate Wedding Ceremony at The Townsend Property

The day of the wedding turned out to be super windy and they called for rain, so Chelsey and Matt made the call to move their ceremony from outside into the loft. It wound up being gorgeous! The loft has the most beautiful natural light pouring in, and their florist even got their arch installed in the space. It wound up being absolutely gorgeous. I loved the entire ceremony, it felt so sweet and personal. Chelsey’s brother walked her down the aisle and the ceremony was performed by the Groom’s dad, Steve. Charlie did a great job as the ring bearer, walking the rings down the aisle! Since the ceremony was indoors in a small space it was so quiet, and everyone kept giggling at the sound of Charlie panting over the vows!
Intimate wedding days like this are honestly some of my favorites because of moments like this. Chelsey and Matt were able to just relax and laugh with their family and friends as they officially became husband and wife.

Tented Wedding Reception in New Jersey

After the ceremony, it was time for their party. The reception was tented on the lawn and before it was ready, their cocktail hour took place with everyone mingling and playing corn hole on the custom boards the bride hand lettered with bean bags that said “Team Chelsey” and “Team Matt”. Chelsey made the reception unique with her artwork, too.

She hand painted and hand lettered every single sign at the wedding! She also made the the vintage key-themed seating chart and even painted a special champagne glass for her and her maid of honor. I was so impressed with all of her hard work, now I know why she’s so well known! This girl has some serious talent! One of my favorite moments from the reception was that their first dance was actually out on the lawn with everyone around them. It was so special.
