Kelly and Tristen met on match.com on literally one of the last days that they possibly could have met. Both of their subscriptions were going to expire and she just happened to see him and sent a quick hello. They had their first date and have been inseparable ever since. Six months later the couple moved in together and started dating. When I asked Kelly how Tristen proposed, she said “I’ve never been one to really plan my wedding since I was a little girl or look at rings that I liked, etc. Tristen and I have always had an understanding that we’d spend our lives together but we never really put a time frame on it. One day I was looking at Pinterest and a rose gold ring popped up. I fell in love with it. I sent it to my mom with a message to just hold on to the picture JUST incase Tristen ever asked her what I would want. Little did I know two days later he went to my parents to ask permission. He already had a ring picked out, but literally drove all over Eastern PA to find that exact ring in the picture. I was in one of my best friend’s weddings (Kristen & Jim, another Something Blue wedding!), so on that Friday we headed to NJ to be a part of it. Saturday we had a blast at the wedding and early Sunday morning we went from there to Lake Walenpalpack, where Tristen’s mother and step father rent a house for a week each year. We were sitting on the deck on the back of the house, which overlooked the lake. Tristen suggested we go down below to the dock. We made our way down and sat on a bench right on the water. It was perfect and serene and just beautiful. His heart was beating out of his chest and I was wondering what was going on haha. Then he stood up and took my hand. I said, “oh we are standing?” he said, “yes, I have something to ask you.” he got down on one knee and said the sweetest things in the whole world and pulled out the beautiful rose gold ring I wanted. I was sooo confused because I literally just saw that ring a few days ago and had no idea how he got it so fast! He proposed on his birthday and said he couldn’t think of a better birthday gift than to ask me to be his wife!”
Fast forward to the wedding, Kelly and Tristen worked their butts off to have the barn wedding of their dreams! He built the gorgeous arbor they got married under, and Kelly and her mom made all the bouquets and centerpieces. The entire wedding party got ready in a boutique hotel in Kutztown, PA. Afterwards, we headed to the barn where the couple had their first look in back of the corn crib. We had the whole property to ourselves so we were able to take pictures everywhere. White chairs lined the front of the property where Kelly and Tristen were married. After the ceremony, they drove off in his ’41 Plymouth Coupe that he restored..it was so cool, and it was Kelly’s first time riding in it! My favorite pictures from the day are the ones with the two of them with the Coupe..very Bonnie and Clyde!
Their reception had the cutest decor! There were window panes, wine barrels, a pie station, and a biscuit bar! As the sun started to set, we climbed into a pickup truck and quickly drove to the highest point we could find and jumped out to take pictures in the open field..it was so pretty!!!! I love barn weddings because they are very laid back, so chill, and everyone is just hanging out and catching up. The wedding ended with a Mister Softee ice cream truck that showed up and handed out ice cream to all the guests. I may, or may not have, had a soft chocolate cone with chocolate sprinkles 😉
