How did you meet?
We met in high school. He sat behind me in english class and was the definition of class clown. He never studied for any of our tests and just talked non stop. He still talks non-stop. We hung out a couple of times but just stayed friends. After we graduated, we went our separate ways for college and didn’t reconnect until we both graduated and moved back home. I thought I asked him on a date to grab drinks and he thought we were just grabbing drinks. I then decided to kiss him instead of waiting for him and we were dating ever since.
We have been dating for 5 years when we all were going on a family cruise to Bermuda. It was formal night and everyone was dressed up. My mother asked me to come to the bathroom with her and when we came back he was waiting for me on the grand staircase. He asked me to come with him. He grabbed my hands and at that point we were both shaking. you could tell he was nervous. He told me about how he has loved me for 10 years, ever since we met in english class. Of course I said yes to the love of my life! We celebrated with champagne and the beautiful pink sand of Bermuda.
Why did you pick your venue?
We picked the Ryland Inn because I fell in love as soon as we pulled up to the venue. I knew I was looking for a venue that was different from any other ballroom we’ve seen. We wanted the venue to have character and feel intimate. We wanted our wedding to feel like our friends and family were not just attending any wedding, we wanted them to feel like they were joining us on a romantic date night. We wanted it to feel real. And the Ryland Inn was all that and more. The outdoor ceremony space gave us the romantic feeling of a southern plantation wedding. The outback patio gave us the intimate cocktail hour with market lights and yard games. and lastly The ballroom with floor to ceiling windows gave us that magical starry night experience. It was perfect. The running joke is that all throughout the planning process I kept saying that “It looks like what the inside of my heart looks like” and… “even the parking lot is pretty”.
Tell us about all the details of the wedding!
The colors were ivory, blush gold and green. I wanted the wedding to feel very romantic, organic and garden-like. Wild flowers, candles and soft details everywhere. I wanted everything very neutral so that the flowers would pop and really stand out. It was important for me that the wedding felt beautiful, authentic, and timeless yet modern.
Favorite moment of the day
My favorite moment of the day was our ceremony. It was short, sweet and everything I could have asked for. We decided to write our own vows and have traditional vows, and both were perfect. We promised to love each other and protect each other while also promising to support each other’s flaws. I especially loved when Nick promised to run and grab a phone charger everytime my phone is one 1% (That’s all the time btw).
Where are you going on your honeymoon?
We are going to TRS Yucatan in Riviera Mexico, a luxury all inclusive resort in the rainforest. Nick planned the whole trip and I am so excited to relax and explore life with my new husband.
