How did you meet?
This is such a funny question, most people assume that we met through mutual friends at Rutgers. But we actually met online and realized we both attended our alma mater! Our first date was at a martini bar, Clydz in New Brunswick where we both attended college. We ended up sitting at the bar for 3+ hours chatting. It was hands down the most memorable first date we both had ever gone on and we’ve been together ever since!
Matt planned a great day for us in Doylestown, PA. We always chatted about going to Fonthill Castle to go on a tour to see all of the great textile work that is in the castle. It’s unique in that it’s completely made out of concrete, and not a single room is level. Afterward we headed over to Peace Valley Park, it’s situated around a gorgeous lake. We kept walking until we came across a grassy meadow that lead us to the edge of the water. Matt was throwing pebbles into the lake and there was a log that Kim was hanging out on. At one point he ended up behind me and said, “I think I found the perfect rock,” as Kim was turning around she said, “oh yeah?” to see him down on one knee asking me to spend the rest of my life with him. Matt then took us to our favorite small plates restaurant called Honey to celebrate.
Why did you pick your venue?
We both wanted a place that had some history to it but also that was rustic and elegant. The Ryland Inn has history dating back to the 1700s as an Inn being a main stopping point for postal runs between New Brunswick, NJ and Easton, PA. What really stole the show for us was the Grand Ballroom, we walked in and couldn’t think of getting married anywhere else. The stone fireplace and the floor to ceiling windows were absolute showstoppers.
Tell us about all the details of the wedding!
Ah there are so many! But will list some of the most special:
Hayley Paige Wedding Dress, incorporating my absolute favorite color, purple!
Matt’s Joseph Abboud custom suit has our original wedding date embroidered on the interior.Kim’s grandmother who passed away before the wedding she was an avid gardener and loved flowers. We included Peonies and Lilies because they were her favorite. We got married 8 weeks into COVID at home with our parents there to witness it. It was incredibly special. Kim’s mom had our original invitation framed and framed some of our photos from that day.Our toasting champagne flutes are an heirloom that were passed to us from Matt’s parents, they got married 42 years ago!Matt’s wooden ring is made from a WW1 M1 Grand Rifle Stock (we like history!)
Favorite moment of the day?
Our first dance. We can honestly say that dance was in no way rehearsed at all, not even a little. Those spins and dips were PURE MAGIC! It was amazing, at the end of the dance we huddled, hugging our parents for only a few seconds, but we got to tell each other how much we loved one another and to enjoy every second because the night was going to fly by and it really did.
Where are you going on your honeymoon?
We went to Hawaii, including some of our favorites from the trip!
Big Island and Maui, Hawaii!
