Rainy Brooklyn Bridge Anniversary Session ::

Last year I attended a photography workshop at the one and only Katelyn James‘ house in Virginia. It was there that I met Allison, a fellow wedding photographer from Texas. We hit in off right away and we have kept in touch ever since, mostly to text about weddings, The Bachelor, and all things Joanna Gaines.
This week, Allison and her hubby, Jason, came to NYC from Texas and we got to take their anniversary pictures on the Brooklyn Bridge….at 6am….in a rainstorm….with extremely high winds! 😳 (the things I do for my friends! 😂)We would have rescheduled but they were leaving to go home the next day sooooo, we didn’t really have a choice.
Allison started getting her makeup done by the amazing Christina Dellanno of Perfect Bridals by Christina in her hotel room at 4am!!!! We started the actual session on top of the bridge around 6am (to avoid massive crowds)! Allison wore a gorgeous pink flowy Lulus dress. At this point there was just a light rain, we figured “Hey this isn’t so bad”. BUT THEN…the wind picked up. When I say “wind”, what I really mean is extreme gusts of wind that are literally blowing you and it’s hard to stand still. Then the rain really started to come down. Poor Jason was soaked, but being such a trooper (he gets a gold star!) We took some shots with the umbrellas on the bridge as well, but given the strong winds we had to go back down to the street to DUMBO (short for “Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass”…a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn).
Allison changed into a gorgeous beaded BHLDN gown. It was still raining but not nearly as bad as earlier and without the wind it was much more manageable. Of course we had to be a little “extra” and end the session with confetti in front of the Manhattan Bridge (no one saw that, right?)
Despite the rain, wind, ad humidity, I gotta say I LOVED this session, and I feel like all the elements added to it and made it their own!
Sadly, Allison and Jason are on their way home and I will have to wait until I go to Texas to see them again 🙁
