How did you meet?
We met on an online dating app, exchanged numbers, but never made plans to meet up in person. Time passed and I deleted the app…along with his number! Months later, I got a text from a number I didn’t recognize. It wasn’t until Mike sent me a picture that I recognized the cute guy in the Giants hat. We finally decided to meet up and have been together ever since our first date!

The Proposal!
Mike and I were at my family’s summer home for Memorial Day weekend. It rained every day so I thought nothing of it when Mike suggested we go for a walk the moment he saw the sun peeking out. We walked down to an old fishing pier by the beach. I was admiring a sweet elderly couple holding hands when Mike turned to me and said, “That could be us one day if you say yes.” I turned around and he was on one knee. I was in such shock that everything else is a blur! I later found out that Mike, the guy who ALWAYS has a plan, was carrying the ring on him all weekend waiting for the perfect moment to propose. It was so sweet and special. I love how he chose to be spontaneous and he picked a place he knew was so special to me. We celebrated with family the rest of the weekend and it was absolutely perfect.

Why did you pick your venue?
We wanted our wedding to be a reflection of who we are as a couple. I’m from New Jersey and Mike is from New York. Liberty House was the perfect blend of where we are both from. It offered beautiful gardens for our outdoor ceremony and a large ballroom with floor to ceiling windows and stunning views of the city. The staff was incredible to work with and they helped make our dream wedding happen. We love that it’s a restaurant so we can go back and celebrate special occasions!

Tell us about all the details of the wedding!
We wanted our wedding to be elegant, romantic, and modern with touches of tradition. The florals were ivory, blush, and greens with the bridesmaids’ bouquets adding a beautiful deep red that really popped against their champagne dresses. The groomsmen wore black tuxedos with bow ties. We put a lot of thought into adding little details that incorporated the things that are important to us. The comb in my hair was made from my grandmother’s headpiece that she wore on her wedding day in the 1930s. The ring bearer’s pillow was the same one used at my grandparent’s wedding. We included Irish and Italian traditions in our ceremony and at the reception to honor our heritage. We chose to skip traditional favors and made a donation to two organizations close to our hearts: Band of Parents and The American Kidney Foundation. We extended the wedding an hour with an after party where we ended the night in true Jersey fashion – with taylor ham, egg and cheese sandwiches to go! It was an extraordinary day and we truly felt so much love and happiness all around us!

Favorite moment of the day?
The best piece of advice we got was to take in every single moment. It’s easy to get so wrapped up in the excitement of the day that it just flies by. Knowing this, we made a conscious effort to be present in every moment. The day was filled with so many special moments that it’s impossible for me to choose just one! Some that stand out are spending the morning getting ready with my favorite people, our first look, my dad walking me down the aisle, dancing the night away with our loved ones to our fantastic band. My brother and future sister-in-law surprised us with a painter that painted our wedding reception as it was happening. It was unreal! I think the best part of the day is how we both felt – so loved and so incredibly happy.

Where are you going on your honeymoon?
We honeymooned in St. Lucia and it was perfect! St. Lucia has beautiful beaches and plenty of adventure which is exactly what we were looking for. We stayed at an open wall hotel in the mountains with a beautiful view of the Caribbean and St. Lucia’s famous Piton mountains. It was the perfect combination of relaxation and adventure. It was a trip we’ll never forget!
