I have only photographed a few Greek weddings in my career, and let me just tell you..they are SO fun!!! If you have never been, you really need to find a way to get invited to one! LOL They have so many cool traditions from the groomsmen shaving and dressing the groom in the morning, throwing money around the dance floor all night, and tons of traditional Greek dancing. Speaking of Greek dancing…Stanley, the groom, teaches Greek dancing all over NJ and he is AMAZING to watch!
When I first met Kathleen and Stanley, they told me how they wanted to have their engagement session at Watchung Stables where Katie works, as she has a horse there (Curly!) and has been riding horses since she was very young. I was super excited (obviously!) and they had an amazingggg session, one of my all time favs!
One of Katie’s bridesmaids, Erin, is also a #SBbride, and I got to know Katie even more when she was in Erin’s double Indian/Jewish wedding back in May.
Their wedding day was a rainy one..like, downpour rain! The rain continued all morning while everyone was getting ready, Katie and I were checking the weather app and hoping for just a few minutes of sunshine. Kathleen looked gorgeous in her Maggie Sottero gown and had a beautiful bouquet of succulents, roses, dusty miller, dahlias and gerbera daisies. The bridesmaids wore coral dresses, which looked so nice next to the guy’s grey tuxes. We got our wish and the rain stopped just in time for her to step out of the limo into the Church! After the ceremony, the sun was still out so we took all the bridal party pictures at the church before heading up to the venue. The reception was at the gorgeous Shadowbrook at Shrewsbury…this is such a classic, pretty estate. We walked around the grounds with the couple, all the while Stan kept us entertained with his silliness and wisecracks..I just love these two!
Umm..the cocktail hour was off the hook! There was every food imaginable, I was kind of in heaven! The reception began with the couple’s grand entrance and first dance to the country song “History In The Making“. After parent dances and toasts from the Maid of Honor and Best Man, the Greek band started playing. This is where it went from mellow to crazy within 60 seconds! Wow, Greeks can really cut a rug! I’ve honestly never seen anything like it, and Stan was in the center of it all, even balancing a glass of moonshine on his forehead while standing, then squatting, then laying down backwards…not one drop spilled!!! Insane! Awesome couple, Awesome wedding!
The couple is currently honeymooning in the Maldives and Dubai
