How did you meet?
We met while working at the Apple Store. I had been working there for a few years before Nick started. He told one of my good friends that he had a crush on a girl with the same initials as him. She set up a night for us to all hang out and the rest is history. We have talked every day since the moment I gave him my phone number.
We had talked about getting engaged for a while. Nick told me he wanted to be settled in his job for a few months before starting all the craziness. He kept telling me to “hang in there, it will happen.” We made plans for a Saturday in June to go to a place in Middletown called Deep Cut Gardens, and then go for dinner afterwards. It just so happened I had a really bad day the week before, so Nick offered to pay for me to get my nails and a pedicure done. I didn’t think anything of it. My sister came with me and told me how she was going to Long Island that weekend. Everyone seemed to not be around, so I definitely didn’t see a proposal coming. The day of, we got to Deep Cut Gardens and were walking around taking pictures. A man approached us with a camera and said he was going to be shooting a wedding there the weekend after and asked if he could use us as his “subjects” to test the lighting (this was all planned, Nick hired him to capture the moment). We took a bunch of pictures, when finally, the photographer had our backs towards the entrance, and then told me to turn around. I turned around and saw our family holding a banner that said, “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” Next thing I know, Nick was down on one knee and proposed. Of course, I said YES! Everyone came rushing down to celebrate the moment with us. We had plans to go home with our families after and celebrate at my parent’s house. We got home, and everything was all set up with decorations and pictures. The surprise continued when all of my best friends showed up to celebrate with us! I was so shocked and overwhelmed, I have never felt so much love. Needless to Nick did good!
The bridesmaids all wore Bill Levkoff. The dresses were all long, chiffon fabric in the color petal pink. All bridesmaids wore the same sweetheart neckline style, except the matron of honor, who wore strapless. The groomsmen wore black Vera Wang tuxedoes with black bow ties. Every groomsmen (including the groom) wore mustache socks! Our color scheme was
to incorporate lots of soft colors; including blush, pinks, ivory, gold and whites. To highlight summer time, we decided to go with sweet tea vodka and lemonade as our signature cocktail.
Why did you pick your venue?
From the minute we drove up to The Palace, we fell in love. The style was everything we were looking for, from the elegance of the ballroom to the outdoor space, it was perfect. It was in a great location for all of our guests, which was also a huge plus! Favorite moment of the day?
The entire day was absolutely perfect. If we had to choose a favorite moment, it would be our entrance into the reception as Mr. & Mrs. and getting to celebrate with all of our friends and family. Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went on a 2-week honeymoon in Italy! We started out in Venice, then Florence where we also got to visit Siena and San Gimignano, Sorrento and the rest of the Almalfi Coast (Capri, Positano, Almalfi and Ravello), and ended in Rome! We ate tons of pasta, gelato and drank lots of wine! It was the most amazing trip we have ever taken!
