I have photographed two of Kaitlin and James’ friend’s weddings so I had gotten to know them fairly well, especially after their engagement session last year. They are so layed back and such a genuinely sweet couple. Kaitlin had this beautiful vision for her wedding day, and through the planning process we would text back and forth with ideas for flowers and such. It was no surprise that their wedding day was just beautiful! The weather was calling for rain all day, but we lucked out and got some gorgeous pictures at The English Manor of the bride and groom. It wasn’t until we started taking bridal party pictures that it began to pour! Unfortunately the rest of the day was a wash out, but that didn’t get Kaitlin and James down..we got some group shots under the entrance overhang and were able to finish the bridal portraits inside the venue. They had such a fun reception. They shared a first dance to The Luckiest by Ben Folds and their guests had a blast in the photo booth and danced all night long to the band. The night ended with a popcorn bar and a pork roll, egg, and cheese station set up outside.
The newlyweds are going to Greece on their honeymoon

Susan: How did you meet?
Kaitlin: Simply put, we met through mutual friends. And when I put that down on paper it seems boring- but I promise you it was not. I walked into an apartment where James was screaming at the TV because his 49ers were having a rough game. And then I was introduced to James. He offered me a slice of pizza with the kindest eyes and that was that. We danced the night away in Hoboken to Rihanna & years later here we are. The odd part of the story is that we share a number of mutual friends (he lived a floor above my best friend during their freshmen year of college)–it still baffles me that we never met before– but hey, timing is everything : )
James: Correction, I lived a floor below your best friend and I had an afro in college so you never would’ve dated me 😉
Susan: How/when/where did you get engaged?
Kaitlin: November 5th, 2014- Rafferty’s in New Brunswick- This was where we had our official first date. We sat at the exact same table we sat at during our first date. During our first date I was realllly nervous and I kept knocking the fork off the table. So on November 5th, James knocked the fork off the table and while I was yelling at him for making fun of me he got down on one knee to retrieve the fork but instead he had a ring! Family & friends were waiting nearby and surprised us to celebrate. Afterwards, James surprised me with vacation to Cape Cod.
