How did you meet?
RJ and I met through mutual friends in college when we were 19. There was a long eight months of courtship while he was in Massachusetts for the summer, and I studied abroad in Florence that fall. We started dating pretty much the second I got back to school. We’ve grown up along side of each other, which I love!
Favorite moment of the day?
My favorite moment was saying our vows, and RJ’s was walking down the aisle together after the ceremony ended. You spend a lot of time thinking about the reception and little details, but the ceremony is what counts. It felt so special to be in the moment, focusing on the two of us and our relationship.
Tell us about all the details of the wedding!
I wanted a wedding that was classic, but also very romantic. One thing that I had a vision about was our flowers, which which Petal Pushers absolutely brought to life.
The Proposal!
Living in Boston, RJ and I spend a lot of time on Cape Cod. So one weekend, on our drive down, RJ suggested we take our puppy for a long walk along a wooded trail. Rooney is the only living thing I would miss prime beach hours for, so I agreed. When the trail opened up to a gorgeous view of the water, RJ asked if I wanted to take a family picture. Before I could even put the dog down, he was on one knee!
Why did you pick your venue?
It was very important to me that we get married somewhere that I could get ready in my childhood home. We knew we wanted to get married on September 21st (like the song!), and we ended up at Trenton Country Club. They had just renovated their cocktail area with gorgeous french doors to the patio, overlooking the golf course. The grounds were the perfect mix of classic and romantic for our photos.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Just two days after our wedding, we went to Italy! We had the best time ever, and it was the perfect way to start our marriage. We went to Venice, Florence, Capri, and Rome. Doesn’t get much better than overloading on pasta and wine after over a year of wedding preparation!
